Faithful Fatherhood | June 18, 2017'

Getting Started

  • What does it take to be a good dad?
  • In what ways does children growing up in a fatherless home translate to breakdown in society?

Community Discussion

  • In what ways have we felt the affects of fathers who have abandoned or abused their responsibilities? How has this shaped and affected our view of God,  gospel community, and fatherhood in general?
  • God the Father gives us the perfect example of a father. How has this influenced our ability to father in the home? In the church? How has this influenced our spiritual fatherhood towards our unbelieving friends, family, and neighbors? As a community how can we provide spiritual fatherhood to those living around us?
  • We learned that men were designed to take redemptive responsibility for the people and things around them and a faithful father provides for, protects, and pastors their families. What areas of fatherhood do the men in our community feel most strongly prepared for? What areas of fatherhood do the men in our community feel least prepared for? What are some things we can do to encourage and develop growth in these areas for the men in our community?

Family

  • How have your experiences growing up with a dad affected, or influenced the experiences you are now having as a dad yourself? In what ways is your father's abandonment or abuse of his responsibility shaping the way that you parent your children?
  • As a family, what are you currently doing for family worship? How have you made the local church, and gospel community a priority in your lives? How are you involving your children into these aspects of the church? What are some practical ways your family could grow in their spiritual development and maturity?
